"Fashion not only makes us beautiful, but it
allows each of us to express our confidence
and our uniqueness" |
Sharp tailored
shapes and soft flowing, ethereal forms…
monochromatic palettes and subtle patterns
come together in Elizabeth St John’s modern,
eco lux collections. Light and seductive,
all her collections draw from classical
silhouettes and the natural world alike.
Production with
a conscience, all materials are 100% natural
fibers or fully recycled man made
materials. French lace, Italian silks and
PET fabrics abound, power is 100% wind and
each garment is hand cut as ordered,
limiting waste and over production.
Categorizing her
collections as “eco-lux,” Elizabeth takes
the utmost pride in producing collections
that combine luxurious materials with
exceptional craftsmanship and design. Her
eponymous collection reflects a modern
femininity, with traditional tailoring,
encompassing bridal gowns and separates,
eveningwear, and children's wear.

Sister companies,
which she co-founded with her husband
include Element Home (www.ElementBags.com - eco-friendly home and
personal accessories) and Hayden Harlow
(www.HaydenHarlow.com bespoke couture adornments).
Building her
companies from scratch, and wholly
self-financed, Elizabeth has been able to
guide every aspect of her businesses to meet
her strict manufacturing requirements as
well as her personal passion for
environmental sustainability. A
practitioner of “Slow Fashion,” she adheres
to age-old handcrafting skills but also
combines them with all the technological age
has to offer, merging them seamlessly into
beautifully conceived collections.
Her intuitive sense
of tailoring, was inherited from her
couturier mother. Naturally curious,
growing up in her mother's studio, Elizabeth
would spend
countless hours observing techniques and
honing her skills as a designer and master
craftsman from an early age. After
pursuing dual degrees in
Climatology (physical geography) and
Anthropology from the University of
Maryland, Elizabeth went on to spend over a
decade working to protect some of the worlds
most remote tropical rainforests.
Currently, she uses
her unique understanding of how humans
interact with the natural world as a focus
of her business practices. She remains
very active in the non-profit world, serving
on the Boards of several charities focused
on the protection of nature and the
environment as well as charities that
focus on third world education.
Her bridal
collections are shown twice yearly in New
York, at New York International Bridal
Week. Elizabeth is also a frequent fashion
expert/contributor to various DC television
programs. Her work has been featured in
numerous national and international
publications including Martha Stewart
Weddings, Brides, The Knot, Italian Vogue,
and Better Homes and Gardens. Select
collections can be found in boutiques
throughout the US, Canada and Europe, and in her studio, just outside of
Washington, DC where she lives with her
photographer husband, John, and their
numerous non-human companions.
